Metcalfe Constructions were engaged to rectify the foundations and repair all visual damage to the external façade of the old Commonwealth Bank building in Maryborough and restore the building to its’ original condition.
The existing foundations had subsided causing structural damage to supporting beams, pillar caps were crumbling and various elements were deteriorating.
The Metcalfe Constructions Project Team arranged for engineered steel posts and plates to be fixed to the supporting beams without comprising the internal appearance.
Externally the building was given new pillar caps, repairs were carried out to the cement render as well as repainting and removal of the unsympathetic later additions.
The project was completed quickly and within budget and there were no disruption caused to passing pedestrians.
