
After 4 years of fundraising, form filling and hard work Meals on Wheels finally moved in to their new kitchen and delivered the first meals from there on Monday 24th February.
The Meals on Wheels Production Kitchen was the fit out of an existing vacant warehouse shed. Concrete floors were cut and removed to install the drainage, gas, water and electrical services required for a commercial kitchen.
The commercial kitchen consists of a production kitchen, 2 large freezer rooms, 3 cold stores, dry store, delivery area, dispatch area, staff amenities, volunteer lounge and training area, administration area and chefs office. In addition to Production Kitchen the construction of 6 bay garage used to house prepared food transport vehicles.
The strong relationships developed and maintained within the project team led to an outstanding project result for all involved.
Meals on Wheel has a kitchen that provides affordable and healthy meals to the community Meals on wheels is ready to service the community with meals in the event of a natural disaster with a large generator ready to supply the power needed to continue functioning during power outages.
