With no room to move the only way to go for this project was up. This impressive state of the art two storey building was constructed over the top of existing amenities, locker room and janitor’s store room.
The building was constructed firstly by the removal of the old roof, the existing building was reinforced with new foundations and large structural steel columns rose up to support the new floor.
The Language centre includes four general learning areas, film and recording studios with dark room and editing facilities, sound proof music practice rooms, science lab and a specialist drama theatre, which is made accessible by three interlocking dividing walls that can be opened to one room allowing seating for small stage productions.
The external façade consists of rendered block work and colourbond cladding.
