Councillor for City and Town Centre Development Daniel Sanderson said the viewing deck is another significant addition to Project Mary, which incorporates the Bridge to Brolga Strategy.

"The deck will add another facet to the world-class theatre and build on facilities that link the Brolga to the Mary River Parklands," he said.

"The 11 metre by 8 metre wooden viewing deck is covered by shade sails. Paths are built to connect the deck to the walk beside the Mary River that winds its way past the sailing club, through Queens Park and the Mary River Parklands."

"The Mary River, like the foreshore in Hervey Bay, is one of the great natural assets of the region that we celebrate and we will soon be welcoming locals and visitors alike to events and functions in this beautiful new space."

"It is a family friendly and I believe people of all ages will fall in love with this place" Cr Sanderson said.

"It builds on the existing world class facilities we have here in Maryborough."
